Born with a love for horses, Rachael Adams spent her early years riding, caring for, and showing many different horses, both English and Western. At 16 years old, Rachael had already finished high-school and began attending college locally so she could remain active in her equestrian adventures. While maintaining a tough show schedule with several horses, Rachael attended various college courses such as Equine Feeding and Nutrition, Equine Color Genetics, and Horse Business Management, as well as regular core courses. At an age when most youth are entering college, Rachael had already graduated with three Associate degrees. By the time Rachael was 21, she had already made an impact in the show world by making history in 2001. Tags Scenic Rose, a horse owned and trained by Mrs. Adams, finished #1 Nationally with the APHA in eight events. To date, no horse has broken Rachael and Rose's record. During this time, Rachael continued to show and win countless ribbons in Zone 3 as an Adult Amateur, then as a professional. She also won numerous Year-End awards at the State and National level with the VHSA and USEF.
Now with college behind her, Rachael wished to expand her equine operation. In 2003, Locke Meadows LLC came to be. The farm is a little over 80 acres and has been in Rachael's family since 1774. Due to a growing list of clients, she wished to up-grade the current facility to offer stall board, training, and lessons, as well as continue with the farm's ever-increasing show series. The farm now offers a beautiful barn which has been included in numerous magazines, a lovely show ring with bright lights and sound system, and a rolling cross country course that offers Baby Novice (18") through Training Level (3'3").
Even with all of this, there was still something missing in Rachael's life. That void has now been filled and his name is Bryan Adams. Rachael and Bryan were married in 2004. Unlike many husbands of horse-loving wives, Bryan enjoys horses and often times, you'll find him cleaning stalls, washing horses, and making improvements on the farm. Although when he first came into Rachael's life, Bryan knew very little about horses, he is now becoming a seasoned groom as well as on his way to becoming a professional handler!
Although horses are an enormous part of Bryan and Rachael's life, both have other interests as well. In 2002 they earned their EMT-B together and also have their NREMT-I (Medic). Bryan and Rachael also share an assortment of Fire certifications and are successful graduates of the Fire Academy which includes Fire Fighter I & II, HAZMAT Operations, Vehicle Extrication, May Day!!, EVOC, Pump Operators, and Rural Water Supply. Both Bryan and Rachael are CPR Instructors. For the past two years, Rachael has been the leading volunteer for her station in terms of amount of calls ran, as well as training hours. She is also a Registered Nurse (RN) and works in a local ER.
